Spinal Cord Injury Awareness (SCI) 5K
EVENT DATE: May 30, 2015
Our Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Awareness 5K is a community effort by 5 of NYC's leading SCI non-profits: The Alan T Brown Foundation, The Greater NY Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association, Wheeling Forward, Wheels of Progress and the Wheelchair Sports Federation to help bring awareness to SCI and prevention. Together we are working to help people with spinal cord injuries maximize their independence and quality of life.
Join us on May 30th in Prospect Park for the 2nd Annual Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Awareness 5K Run Walk & Roll. You can help us make a difference by signing up to compete or volunteer and fundraising for our most worthy cause. This year we are very excited to have NYCRUNS on board as our race manager. All participants and volunteers must register for our race through the NYCRUNS website.
All funds raised for this event will be equally divided between the 5 collaborating spinal cord injury non-profits.
Traumatic spinal cord injuries (SCI) occur approximately 30 times a day across the United States. 80% of those injuries effect young men, ages 16 to 30 years of age; presenting tremendous physical, emotional and financial challenges as they face living with paralysis.
How can you help?
Participate! Help bring awareness to spinal cord injury (SCI) and paralysis by taking part in the 2nd Annual SCI Awareness 5K sponsored by the leading SCI non-profits in the Tri-state area.
