BENEFITING: U.S. Fund for UNICEF
EVENT DATE: Oct 02, 2016
How your donations can help UNICEF: $5 can provide 13 doses of a measles vaccine. $15 Can provide 1 child with clean, safe water for 1 year. $50 can provide 35 malnourished children with lifesaving nutrition for one day.
A few months ago, Emilia listened to a series of children's podcasts about a Syrian family that leaves their home and resettles in the US. (Sparkle Stories: The Story of Rami Hadid,Episodes 1-4). She wanted to hear these podcasts over and over again. And then she had so many questions: why do families have to leave their homes? Why are people homeless? What are wars? At one point she asked if we could "go to Syria in a plane, and bring food in our bags, and tents, too." It was hard to answer all of these questions, but even harder to see that Emilia wanted to help others but, in this case, could not help directly. So we decided, along with Emilia, to use her birthday party as a way of helping, and a way to let Emilia see that just because she is only four years old doesn't mean she can't make a difference. We created this fundraiser linked to UNICEF USA Fund, an organization that helps children around the world. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
