THE STORY:

Since 2008, I see more doctors than I do my children it seems. We had a cute little rancher, took annual vacations and went school shopping every year. I've worked since I was 15 years old. Let's just say I'm in my 40's now. And provided a nice middle class life style for us. Until May 2008, the first bout and 5 day hospital stay happened. Since then, I have spent many years in and out of the hospital and many many days with doctors and specialists. Scleroderma has no cure, only treatment of the symptoms. in July 2013, I was let go from my job because they "wanted to go in a different direction" that was their nice way of saying my disease was too unpredictable and they couldn't handle all my hospitalizations and doctor appointments. I was shocked and devastated. And this began our downfall. We lost our home of 15 years in 2009. I just couldn't keep up with the payments and taxes on temporary part time income. No one wants to hire someone who misses a day a week for testing and random weeks for flare ups. We have now been thru a series of small rental homes and I'm finding it harder and harder to pay the bills. My electric was cutoff last week. Just as I was about to make dinner. I haven't done "real" grocery shopping in months. My daughter who is 12 plays school sports and wants to eat healthy but healthy food is too expensive. I haven't been able to buy them new clothes (not from goodwill) or new sports equipment for years. All hand me downs or borrowed items. You know once you get a little behind it's so hard to catch up. I just want to pay a month or two of rent, pay off my gas and electric and get these kids some much needed clothes, school supplies and do proper grocery shopping. I get no government assistance at all, just outside of the "poor" limit but those figures haven't changed since the 60's it seems. I don't know how a family could survive let alone thrive on a few hundred a week. I just need a hand up. Help me get ahead. I've worked out payment plans for my medical now I need to get my home in order. I need to move again in august so I desperately need security deposit money and just an ability to breath instead of cry every night. My son, 15 and daughter, 12 are the sweetest most genuine kids I could ever ask for but we are at rock bottom and can't do it alone anymore. Will you find it in your heart to donate a couple dollars to help us survive. Bless you for even taking a moment to read my story. It felt good just to write it
