Dear all,
Thank you for your kind support and for your patience. SHIKSHYA FOUNDATION NEPAL has been engaged in various meaningful activities on the ground.

At first, the foundation made a $20,000 contribution to the Nepal Red Cross Society for immediate disaster relief efforts in Nepal. It also helped coordinate delivery of 1000lbs of much needed medical supply to a hospital in Kathmandu.

Shikshya Foundation has teamed up with Project Ek and SEED and committed to build 1,500 shelters and temporary learning centers that will benefit hundreds hundreds of family and over 5,000 people in the villages of Dolakha district for the mansoon season and beyond.

The Foundation is also supporting an initiative with Srijanalaya - Art Works! Sangai Khelaun" (translates - let us play together). The initiative for children by artists, educators and psychosocial counselors. Artists from different fields - circus performers, dancers, musicians, theater troupes, visual artists and writers - conduct workshops where children engage in creative and joyful activities. The troupe will travel to informal/ formal/temporary learning spaces in areas where children have had to cope with the loss of loved ones, their homes and sense of security.

GOALS:
1. To engage children in creative play and art activities which allow them to share their stories
2. For each child to leave the workshop with a sense of accomplishment
3. To encourage creative arts activities among children, educators, and parents
4. To support teachers and adults to help address children’s psychosocial needs
5. To do a needs assessment of the learning community in that area and identify possible links to other resources

OUTPUT
1. 800 plus children will be fully engaged for three to five days in creative activities and collaborate to produce a performance which they share with their communities.
2. A team of artists and educators will be trained to create learning spaces that encourage independent thinking and creativity.
3. 120 Parents, educators, and community leaders will engage in constructive conversations about their children’s well beings and imagine what it would mean to create engaging learning spaces in rebuilding processes

Thank you all for your continued support and trust in Shikshya Foundation Nepal. Together we will rebuild Nepal and together we will put "Art" back in the lives of our children because ART WORKS!

Sincerely,
