In 2000, EIF, Lilly Tarikoff, and I founded the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA) to meet the issue of colon cancer head on.
The NCCRA works to eradicate this disease by promoting screening’s life-saving role and funding research to develop better tests, treatments, and ultimately a cure.
Colorectal cancer is the 2nd-leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., and yet, it is largely preventable through appropriate screening and can be cured 90% of the time when detected early.
In 1998, colon cancer took the life of my 42-year-old husband Jay, and I’ve been encouraging people to talk to their doctors and get screened, as well as raising funds for research, ever since. While we’ve made progress, more than 30% of the people who should be tested still haven’t been.
Please consider contributing to the NCCRA. Your donation will support awareness efforts and cutting-edge research at leading institutions conducted by world-class scientists. Remember, colorectal cancer can usually be stopped before it ever starts. With your help, this is a battle we can win.
