BENEFITING: ADAMS STREET FOUNDATION INC
While many of you continue to insist that baking chocolate chip cookies is where my real talents lie, and while there seems to be some debate as to whether my work in city government is a nefarious attempt to limit your freedoms and confiscate your hard earned money or a noble calling to ensure a better, more equitable society for us all, what we can probably all agree on is that some of the most important work that I do is as a member of the junior board of the Adams Street Foundation, a not-for-profit that serves to support the students of the Urban Assembly School of Law & Justice (SLJ).
This year I’m happy to announce that SLJ is celebrating its 10 year anniversary!
Like many urban school districts, NYC’s struggles with a high rate of poverty among its students. In fact, 85% of NYC public school students live in poverty. Partially as a result, only 22% are college ready upon graduation. Over the past 10 years, however, SLJ has graduated 550 seniors and sent a staggering 93% off to college. And to celebrate, the Adams Street Foundation is launching the 1,000 FUTURE SCHOLARS Campaign.
Please help me to support SLJ’s next wave of scholars.
It would mean a lot to me. But more importantly, it would mean the world to the incredible students you’d be helping.
Thanks so much!
