More than 3,000 walkers, runners and spectators will gather for the Seacoast Cancer 5K on Sunday, September 23 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. The morning will be filled with fun activities as we rally in support of cancer patients and their families throughout the Seacoast and Southern Maine.
10:00 am Awards, refreshments and post-event celebration
New route this year: We’ve revised the course to allow for complete road closure, increasing safety for participants and spectators alike.
Free parking is available in the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital parking garage and surrounding lots. Arrive early to avoid the rush and enjoy the pre-event festivities!
Where does the money go?
Proceeds stay right here on the Seacoast, helping provide vital services such as free transportation for patients, comfortable clothing to make treatment easier, and support groups that create community and enhance resilience.
In addition to these ongoing initiatives, funds raised this year will support a multi-disciplinary, technology-enabled conference room that brings the expertise of Massachusetts General Hospital to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital with the touch of a button. By late spring 2018, physicians in Dover and Boston will be able collaborate in real time, sharing diagnostic images and consulting on difficult cases. Located on the Cancer Center’s freshly renovated first floor, this new center will impact nearly every patient and provider, ultimately improving cancer care.
