SEALNet Project Vietnam 2012: Moving Individual Perceptions of (Dis)ability in Vietnam
This is a 2-week project that will gather 20 youth activists from overseas and from Vietnam to partner with people with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh City.
The project’s ultimate goal is to bring awareness to the presence of disability in Vietnam. In Vietnam still exists a common misconception about people with disability that they are those of burden and dependency. We will together use an active art-making process to explore the changing perspectives about (dis)ability and to change such misconception.
Moreover, we are going to have lectures and discussions on the legacy of war that concerns Agent Orange victims in Vietnam. We will also be organizing leadership workshops for Vietnamese high school students to inspire them to take the initiative and form their own projects after Project Vietnam 2012.
