BENEFITING: Saha Global
EVENT DATE: Dec 28, 2015
Hi Everyone! My name is Sean Dikdan and I am an MD/MPH student at Rutgers in Newark, NJ. This December I will be heading to Northern Ghana to create a sustainable water purification business as a field representative for SAHA Global.
Saha Global is a nonprofit organization has been developing water businesses for over six years now, and I am honored to be able to work alongside them. As a med student working in public health, nothing is closer to my heart. This group of motivated individuals have already created 74 water treatment businesses, providing clean water to more than 40,000 people. And the best part - every single one is currently operating to this day.
What will I be doing?
I am heading there to set up another water business in a rural community. Setting up these business is challenging work and my role as a field rep will be multi-faceted. My team of four representatives will meet with the leaders of a particular community to present our idea. We will be in charge recruiting local women to manage the business operations. We physically obtain and set up the equipment of the business. We train the women how to use the set-up, manage the money in the business, and trouble-shoot. Lastly, field representatives travel door-to-door within the community to tell people about the water business and discuss any hesitations they may have. And after we return, Saha oversees these business for at least 5 years to make sure they keep on working!
I need you to help us make the difference. The money you donate goes directly to the start-up material costs of creating this business. In addition, if you donate over $100 I will bring you back a souvenir from this trip :). If you donate over $250 I'll get you two, and you know what, I'll make you an album filled with myself all the good people you are helped! If you donate the full amount, I will name my first born whatever you want. For reals.
But in all seriousness, this will go a long way to help a lot of people who really need it. You can give an entire community of people the most quintessential of resources - clean, uncontaminated drinking water. And this resource will last for years and years and years to come. Thank you!
