Sean's race for assistive technology
Organized by: Sean Chappell
Many of the clients that I work with as a speech-language pathologist need assistive devices such as speech generating devices--think "Stephen Hawking", to wheelchair ramps for their vans, to sensory processing devices like swings, spinners, vibrating tables, etc. Medicaid requires all funding to be approved for devices that are considered "medical necessity" and often the need for technology to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities is overlooked. These clients usually do not have alternative funding sources and need help paying for these devices that can dramatically improve their quality of life.
