I am a loving husband, father of two, and a structural engineer. I started triathlons a few years ago in 2014 as a way to keep myself motivated to exercise. The sport helped me loose almost 45 pounds and has helped communicate to my kids the importance of exercise. My wife also caught the “exercise bug” from me, becoming even more stunning.
When I started triathlons in 2014, I began with a local sprint triathlon, then a half Ironman. The following attempted Ironman Couer d’Alene in 105-degree heat, but dropped out late in the bike portion. Three weeks later I successfully completed Ironman Canada. Not a very stellar time at 16:15 partially from stomach issues on the run, but I finished none-the-less. Now it is time to “run it back”, right-the-wrong from Ironman Couer d’Alene in 2015. I’ll be coming in to the race light and lean and ready for the heat.
When making the decision to race, I did want to raise money. The trouble was finding a cause that I believed in. Ironman for Anna thru the Anna Schindler Foundation is a cause that I feel very good about. Having young children myself, I can’t imagine the hardship these families must endure. I have also had friends whose children had cancer. This is a great cause!
