“Sea’s the Day” We Clean up the Ocean with Action!
If you like to swim, surf, boat, fish, wade, or just sit seaside, Clean Ocean Action (COA) works to make sure the waves and beach are "shore to please." COA has ended ocean dumping, reduced sources pollution and engaged volunteer Beach Sweepers of all ages who have removed over 5,000,000 pieces of harmful ugly trash off the Jersey Shore. We are also a national leader in marine advocacy ensuring our ocean remains wild and free from harmful industrialization. We use research, education and citizen action to improve the marine water quality in the New Jersey/New York region for today and future generations.
Today, the ocean is awash in plastics with tragic consequences. Marine debris is not only ugly and unsightly, it can be lethal to marine life. Over 80% of marine debris comes from land-based sources through runoff. Funds raised through the OceanFirst Charity Challenge will go directly to our efforts to reduce sources of litter all year and make water safer for sea turtles, whales, dolphins, fish and birds. You can help. Support Beach Sweeps!
