BENEFITING: Children's Tumor Foundation
EVENT DATE: Jun 21, 2014
I am running in the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon to raise money for Children's Tumor Foundation. Three years ago our son was diagnosed with NF1. NF1 is a chromosomal disorder with no known cure. The diagnosis was truly a heartbreaking time in our life. Below is some basic information about the disorder.
Neurofibromatosis encompasses a set of distinct genetic disorders that causes tumors to grow along various types of nerves. Neurofibromatosis causes tumors to grow anywhere on or in the body.
The tumors are usually benign but disfiguring and, at times, painful. The disorder has a huge spectrum of severity. Our son is doing well so far but the disorder is progressive so the future is very uncertain. Many other children are quite affected and deal with numerous painful tumors. The disorder is found in approximately 1: 3000 people.

It will be my first marathon and I have been training hard to make sure I cross the finish line. I am not a natural long distance runner! Our family would be forever grateful for your support if you are able to donate. I even bought some Starbucks and Amazon gift cards and will enter you in a drawing for one if you donate.
