Bridge the “Climate Gap” with CYPHER: Nurture youth to become socially-responsible thinkers, doers, and leaders to solve climate change through youth innovations
CYPHER believes in the inherent wisdom of our youth and their communities to come up with practical, innovative, and affordable solutions that bridge the "Climate Gap" or the disproportionate effect of climate change that falls on vulnerable communities.
CYPHER’s Sustainable Earth Decathlon (SED2014) is a dynamic event that showcases innovative youth solutions to build healthy, climate resilient neighborhoods. Multiple teams from colleges and universities will present their climate change solutions at L.A. Metro (One Gateway Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90012) on October 25, 2014 from 1pm-7pm. Your generous support will help bridge the Climate Gap! To attend SED2014, click here.
Part of SED2014 is the 1st Annual “Global Health Symposium on Youth Engagement”. It is the only venue of its kind tackling the role of the youth in addressing the overlap between human health and the environment in disadvantaged communities. The symposium will feature distinguished policy, practice, and research leaders, including:
- Senator Kevin deLeon, Senate President Pro Tempore
- Wm. Jahmal Miller, Deputy Director, CDPH-Office of Health Equity
- Dr. Ninez Ponce, Director, UCLA Center for Global and Immigrant Health
- Piyachat Terrell, Program Officer, US EPA - Pathways
Raise awareness, raise leaders. Your tax-deductible support will empower youth to design their innovations and provide them with training to bring their innovations to market. Youth will receive mentorship, partake in workshops, be connected to other youth innovators, links to resources, a network of community leaders, and potential investors.
CYPHER builds grassroots and grasstops collaborations to effect results-driven change. Our SED2014 partners and supporters include L.A. Metro, California Department of Public Health – Office of Health Equity, UCLA Center for Global and Immigrant Health, Southern California Gas Company, The California Endowment, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, to name a few.
