THE STORY:

All over the country people are in deep need of meaningful voices, art, community, and discourse. We are calling out for healing spaces, and looking to art for inspiration in a way we have not in a long time. As we consider what we can do to move forward, I recall a few things that I’ve been mulling over for a while now:

• How we as artists engage with communities, and how sometimes that can be one sided in nature.

• Building on cultural traditions while pushing into the future

• House parties. We used to seriously rock house parties and that just doesn’t happen the same way it used too.

When I was a kid, I remember writing raps and performing them over music on a boombox. Exploring and discovering myself over break beats. What’s more, I’d bring friends over, or bring the music to them, on my boombox. We’d write, rehearse, and record. With the boombox, we could bring the show to the driveway of a crush, to the park, whatever. The boombox was a tool for creativity, for community, and it could go with us everywhere we went. With the advent of the ipod and such, we’ve taken these experiences and moved them more and more inward, almost forgetting that there was a time where you could literally bring a party, a show, with you wherever you went.

I believe I’ve found a tool that can both bring me back to that old school vibe, as well as bring my work as an artist forward, and what’s more, into the future. It’s called the bumpboxx and it’s a state of the art boombox that essentially operates as a mobile PA system. When I first saw the ad for the bumpboxx, my mind went straight to that finger on the play button, those old house parties, songs for crushes in the lunchroom. In a way, the bumpboxx represents so much of what I bring with me as an artist: culturally classic futurism in community spaces.

Just check out how cool this thing is: Wireless mic, inputs for other equipment/musicians, usb ports, Bluetooth for wireless audio control, rechargeable battery, and more.

Imagine the possibilities. Imagine the freedom. The mobility. We’re talkin’ shows at a moments notice in nontraditional spaces. We’re talkin’ living room tours and house parties. We’re talkin’ communities in conversation to a beat. We’re talkin’ autonomy. You can help me make this dream come true *today*.

All I need is $100 a day for five days. From now until Friday I’ll be seeking to crowd fund the purchase of this incredible tool. Check this out:

• If you give $100 or more, I’ll gladly do a show for you and your friends in your living room, backyard, or garage.

• If you’re all in and want to put up the price of the whole thing, I’ll not only rock a performance for you, I’ll cook a delicious soup for you and up to ten friends at that very performance.

So if you see it as I do, and revel in the possibilities this the bumpboxx creates in the hands of yours truly, give today, and you won’t regret it. Much Love y’all. Thank you.
