About SEED Project:
The SEED Project's mission is to use basketball as a hook to engage Senegalese youth in academic and leadership development programing, and to develop socially conscious role models that will be the next generation of African leaders. Founded in 2002, SEED serves 500 boys and girls a year (grades 6-12) with basketball training, academic tutoring, English language classes and leadership development activities. SEED works with each student to help them graduate high school, matriculate to college, and develop a sense of responsibility to give back to their community, country, and continent.
In a country where 60% of the population is under 24 and only 11% of students attend high school and 5% attend college, SEED has sent 75% of its alums to colleges and universities throughout the world. More than 100 students have successfully matriculated to college, including 26 currently attending college in the U.S. and 4 in Senegal.
SEED Project is a 501(c)3 non profit organization (registered under the name SEEDS)
