Seeking help to do Something Purposeful
Organized by: marcel morris
Hello there, My name is Marcel and I am a 44-year-old artist/wood worker. 8 years ago I was diagnosed with PTSD and was placed on permanent disability. Seeing as it's difficult for me to find an employer that is flexible with hours/shift schedules to meet the needs of my PTSD, I am trying to get a small owner operated woodworking/custom mirror etching business off the ground. The wood working aspect would be focused primarily on small jewelry boxes and small chests to be sold at craft fairs or farmers markets, the possibility to also to sell them to local carvers. The custom mirror aspect will be a sideline aspect of the business for that is more of a specialty item done on request. I have acquired some of the tools and machines for this like a 10-inch table saw, 10-inch mitre saw, palm sanders. I am beginning to think that its never going to happen unless I get some financial aid in my corner. Some of the things I need are as follows a portable car/boat shelter to use as a shop seeing as I am not allowed to build a permanent structure where I live. A router and router table, stacked dado blades, router bits, pipe clamps, small planer etc. Start up materials like wood, hardware (small screws and hinges) has also been included in the over all fundraising goal. Any contribution large or small would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help as I work towards pursuing this small business and giving me a more purposeful and productive future.
