UPDATE - October 30, 2013- The time I recorded for the New Jersey Marathon (see below) looks awfully fast compared to how I feel. After the NJ Marathon, I have battled a series of injuries and pains that I am battling through. I will head to the New York City Marathon in my worst marathon shape, but with the desire and focus to finish the race. I will battle through the miles to get to the finish line remembering the pain, devistation, and sadness that ocurred just one year ago to so many people. If I can help just a few more people by running through the streets of New York City, it will be well worth the tough training and the tougher experience on Sunday.
UPDATE - May 5, 2013: I finished the New Jersey Marathon in 4:19:41. I wish I were faster like my younger days, but there is great pride in finishing.
Next up is the New York City Marathon in November.
If all goes well, I also might run the Lehigh Valley Marathon in September (as it ends in a place near and dear to my heart, Easton, PA).
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED OR SUPPORTED MY EFFORTS THROUGH E-MAILS, CALLS, etc...
BACKGROUND: The New Jersey shore suffered terrible devastation from Hurricane Sandy.
I will be running a number of marathons including the New Jersey Marathon and the ING New York City Marathon in 2013 to raise money to support the American Red Cross who comes to the aide of those in need and is continuing to help residents of the NJ shore after Hurricane Sandy.
Please help me help others!
The following are the marathons I will run to support the American Red Cross in their efforts to help others:
New Jersey Marathon - May 5, 2013
ING New York City Marathon - November 3, 2013
Stay tuned...I may run a few other marathons in 2013 to help support the American Red Cross.
