BENEFITING: All Our Kids
NEWS FLASH! We just received our 501c3 status from the IRS. This means all donations to AOK are tax deductible.
We want to send a big ole AOK thank you to the Edward Charles Foundation, for functioning as our fiscal sponsor while we waited for our C3 application to be approved. They are amazing partners, and we'll always be grateful that they believed in us.
So here's AOK's story. We are members of the DC community who consciously and deliberately open our doors and our hearts to provide love, guidance and support to under-served youth in this city who otherwise might slip through the cracks.
In addition to our biological son, we are currently raising 14 young men and women - 4 of whom are going off to college and otherwise pursue their post-high school dreams. They need our support to help them make their dreams come true.
We want to raise $20,000 to make sure they have everything they need to be successful: for final tuition bills; to get Samera, Branndon and Edd to college (Samera to the University of the Arts in Philly, Branndon at University of Illinois in Chicago and Edd at Hampshire College in Massachusetts); for school stuff--sheets, toiletries, towels, school supplies and books for classes! Not to mention cell phone plans: in the last 4 years, we've become a mighty tight family, and we intend to keep it that way! We want to pay for Kesari, Samera, Edd and Brandon's cell service for the year. And finally, for allowance for the coming academic year - we don't want these kids to starve once they get there so we'll provide a monthly allowance for each of them.
And the next $20,000 will help us get AOK up and running and continue to support the next generation of kids as they prepare to follow their dreams.
We'll update you as we hit our goals -- And send you photo updates as we outfit these guys for their big adventures.
Thank you for your support of AOK!
Thanks to two amazingly generous gifts by an anonymous donor and the Evergreen-Partners Giving Fund, all gifts to AOK will be matched 1:1 up to $40,000.
