Send Jakin and Rachel to Cambodia!
Organized by: Rachel Tolentino
Jakin and I will be traveling with a small church group to visit Asia's Hope, PE2 this summer. PE2 stands for Prek Eng 2. It is a family-based orphanage in Phnom Phen, Cambodia that our church, Central Vineyard, has supported for over TEN years! There are 24 children who live at PE2. When they first came to Asia's Hope, PE2, they were kids who had been given up by their family or were begging on the streets because their parents had died. They were in danger of exploitation and abuse. Instead they are now pre-teens, teens and young adults who have had an excellent education, healthy food, health care, and consistent love from their home parents. They have dreams of becoming doctors, teachers and pastors! A few of them are currently enrolled in university and are well on their way to accomplishing those dreams! Instead of becoming a sad statistic they are now well positioned to effect positive change for their society! Our family has watched them grow up from a distance, and have waited eagerly for the day that we might be able to visit. Jakin has talked for years about wanting to go and meet the kids and see what their lives are like. Our goal is to act as extended family from Central Vineyard, and to let them know that we know them, love them, and are deeply committed to their current and future well being. Before we go we will be going through classes to learn about the Khmer culture and language. One of our hopes is that we will become more effective communicators for the vision and mission of Asia’s Hope back here in the States. We are going to update the kids bios and photos for our congregation, and come back with LOTS of stories. While we are there we will be gathering our stories onto a blog which we will send out once the website is live. Thank you for reading this! We covet your prayers, and are thankful for any financial support you can give! Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
