THE STORY:

On June 4th, Urban Initiatives will hold its 4th Annual Work to Play Cup, a huge, friendly soccer tournament featuring 1,300 K-8th grade children from 31 of Chicago's most underserved communities.

You're invited to support the K-4th grade soccer players from Sherman Elementary at the Work to Play Cup. Team Sponsorships are $3,000. Please consider donating today!

ABOUT SHERMAN ELEMENTARY

  • Joined Urban Initiatives’ Work to Play program in the spring of 2007.
  • Located in the New City neighborhood in Chicago and has 301 students.
  • 93% of the school population is African American. 97% come from low-income households.
  • The numbers game is a HUGE hit with Sherman. They want to play that game every single day.
  • Sherman is very dedicated to the program! We had a lot of confusion last year with the program starting and stopping on more than 2 occasions, but that didn't stop the kids from coming out every day.
