In September, 2013, our senior Culinary Arts class had an idea to help out a great family in need after a family loss. During the entire school year we worked hard to reach our goals of both helping out the family and opening the eyes of high schoolers in our community about safe and courteous driving habits. Along with community leaders and the support of our administration, we were able to develope a Star event for our class FCCLA chapter. Ashley and Mykah showed this project at the regional competition in early Spring and won! Because of the win, they were able to go the state of Ohio FCCLA convention in April and present the Star project. The project won a gold rating in their catagory. Ashley and Mykah will now advance to National FCCLA convention in San Antonio, Texas from July 3rd to 11th. We would really like these two hard working girls to have a great time in Texas. Through hard work dedication and time they prepared and worked on a very worth while project to educate young drivers about the dangers of texting and driving and other hazzards presented to these drivers and their passengers. Our school is covering the airfare and registration for the convention for the two girls and their instructors. They however cannot cover the cost of extra items such as activities outside the convention, food money, or spending money for the girls. We are not asking for donations for the instructors, but for the two great young ladies who poured their hearts into this project.
We would appreciate any donations to help these girls have a super time and remember this event for the rest of thier lives. At the National convention there will be seminars on leadership as well as team building activities and a chance for all FCCLA members to meet and get to know each other. They will also be presenting thier regional and state winning Star project to a panel of National judges for their consideration and we hope to win Gold at National FCCLA in Chapter Service Portfolio. Thank you for your time and helping us out.
