Sending Kids to Camp - Every Child Deserves to be Whole
Organized by: David Lund & Debbie Fleser
EVENT DATE Jun 15, 2014
Our Passion - Helping Children
We strongly believe that every child should have the opportunity to attend summer camp, providing them with rich experiences that build character and camaraderie. At camp children get to experience positive activities and learn valuable skills that make a tremendous difference both in childhood and in their life’s journey. The values they gain through their summer camp experience will spill over and shape their adult lives.
Our goal is to make the dream of going off to camp possible for eight disadvantaged children by fundraising for the camp costs. Additionally we will share the positive aspects of leadership learning through our “Every Child Deserves to be Whole” half-day workshop while at camp.
We are committed to helping children shape and form a better world for all of us to live in.
The children will be exposed to themes that demonstrate how important it is to be aware of the life that they are living and the resonant choices they have. By creating a safe and enriching experience, our workshop will leave a very positive impression and enhance a pathway to greater self-awareness. The notion that as children they have choices and those choices reflect their leadership values is the key takeaway from the workshop. We hope this experience provides a framework for greater stability and awareness.
Debbie Fleser and David Lund together designed the workshop.( A similation of the session was presented to Cornerstone.) It will be co-lead with both leaders involved for the entire session. The workshop will consist of three core pieces:
- Communication - how messages can be misinterpreted
- Self awareness - becoming my best
- Feedback - sharing and appreciation for others
The workshop will be approximately three hours with a break for nourishment in the middle. It will be set up and run while the children are at camp one afternoon during the week of June 15, 2014.
