Today marks 27 days until I leave for Zambia. I'm starting to feel the pressure and nervousness that comes with leaving behind the two most important See More

THE STORY:

Last October, I had a very successful missions trip to Zambia. We were able to distribute hundreds of Bibles in several different languages to people who had never owned a personal copy of Scripture before. We were able to provide a study Bible for approximately 80 Pastors across Zambia. And I was able to work with local churches and US-based missionaries serving in the area to minister to and build up Christians in different areas of the country. Before I left Zambia last year, I was confident that I was called to go back sooner rather than later. The needs are so great and the people are so receptive and hungry for the Gospel. As the economy in Zambia stumbles further, the people will be more open to the Gospel message than they otherwise would. My goal this trip is to travel with Bishop Alfred to two different area of Zambia: First, we hope to visit the Copper Belt region in northern Zambia along the border of Congo. The towns of Kitwe, Solwezi and Mufulira are of particular interest. The churches in these areas have not been reached with Bible distribution projects yet and have not received a visit from Bishop Alfred in some time. The Copper Belt region is particularly economically devastated since the global economic meltdown of 2008 as American and British mining interests pulled out and made way for the Chinese to take their place. Second, we hope to visit two churches that are being planted and developed along Lake Kariba in south Zambia along the border with Zimbabwe. This area is primarily fishing villages. I hope that we can distribute Bibles in this area and minister to the leaders and Christ-followers in these new churches. In terms of expenses, I anticipate that they will likely be very similar to my October 2015 trip: 1. Medical Expenses (vaccinations, medications) 2. Travel Expenses to Zambia (Amtrak to Chicago, Emirates Air from Chicago to Dubai & Dubai to Lusaka, hotel stay in Dubai) 3. Travel Expenses while in Zambia (Gasoline {quite expensive} for vehicle travel, bus fare, lodging in a guest room, meals) If you would like to see a breakdown of specific expenses from my 2015 trip, I have a PDF itemized report that I'd be glad to share with you that goes into more detail of specific expenses. Please note: I will have a separate area to raise funds for Bibles because I like to keep those funds separate from the travel expenses. Once I have raised the funds for traveling to, from and in Zambia, I will raise additional funds for purchasing Bibles.
