Send Jaki to Alternatives to Violence Program Conference!
Organized by: Jaki Lee
I am writing to ask for your help to enable me to attend an international Alternatives to Violence Program (AVP) conference. The gathering will be held at Maynooth College in Dublin, Ireland, from July 13 through July 19, 2014 and will be attended by people who work in this program all over the world.
I have been working with the Alternatives to Violence Program over the past three years. I have worked with prisoners in the Chowchilla, California Women’s Prison, prisoners in jail in San Bruno, California, and with inner-city youth, ages 18 to 24 through the Civic Corps.
I have seen the changes that AVP can bring to at-risk young people and to incarcerated people, by offering tools for managing anger and conflict. I would like the chance to share my experiences and learn from the other participants who will be attending from South American, African, European, and Asian countries. I believe the international exchange of information will educate us all.
I need to raise $3,500 to cover the plane fare, room and board, and the registration fee. Would you be willing to help? Your contribution would go toward making me a better facilitator for the Alternatives to Violence Program. Thank you very much for anything you can contribute.
