BENEFITING: Saha Global
EVENT DATE: Dec 26, 2012
This December I will be traveling to Ghana to participate in Community Water Solution's (CWS) winter Fellowship Program. I, along with 3 other wonderful CWS fellows, will be learning about the global water crisis and doing something about it. Under the guidance of CWS we will establish a water treatment business for a community that previously had very limited or no access to clean drinking water... all in just a few weeks!
I and the rest of the CWS team will be doing all the legwork, but that doesn't mean we don't need your help! Each fellow is required to raise $3000 to pay for our in country expenses (i.e. everything we need associated with staying there and establishing the water treatment business but not our travel expenses).
That all sounds good and nice but I don't expect you to just give me your (or your parents') hard earned money based on just that, but if I've sparked your interest and you've got some more attention to spare, I implore you to sit back, relax, and let me do some more explaining.
So… this organization you're telling me I should give my money to, what are they all about?
From the community water solutions website:
"Community Water Solutions is a non-profit that works to bring clean drinking water to rural villages in West Africa. How do we do it? CWS brings students and young professionals from around the world to launch sustainable water businesses and empower local women to run them. These businesses provide safe drinking water to the entire community, generate income for the women entrepreneurs who run them, and use local products. To date, CWS has launched 38 water businesses that provide clean water to over 20,000 people."
Intriguing. Let’s say I donate some money, is there any way for me to see the impact I will have made?
Of course! Whether I know you or not, I'd be more than happy to tell you all about what's going on! If you want some more assurance that your money is being put to good use check out some of the online monitoring reports on some of the water treatment centers that CWS has set up and been monitoring! 100% of the water businesses that CWS has launched are still in operation today!
Okay, I'm convinced Community Water Solutions is the real deal, but what's your deal? Why on earth do you want go to Ghana to be a CWS fellow?
There are just too many good reasons to list here! I believe the fellowship program is a great way to make a real and lasting difference in peoples’ lives, while at the same time getting to experience people, places, and things I would never get the chance to otherwise! I don't know with any certainty what I would like to do with my life yet, but I want to be successful. To me, that means as long as I have done everything I could to leave the world a better place than I found it, I will consider my life a success. By participating in this fellowship I feel I am working towards this, and I would like to invite you to join me.
So if you’re interested in making the world a better place (or just like me and want to make me happy), I can’t think of a single good reason that you should not donate to this cause! Every little bit helps! Thank you in advance and if you think this is a good cause please share this with your friends and family.
So with all that being said I hope you will decide to donate to my efforts to bring a village clean drinking water!
