Send Kylie On A Mission Trip To Guatemala
Organized by: Kylie Collins
EVENT DATE Nov 15, 2015
My name is Kylie Collins, and I am pursuing my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at Midwestern University. For the past couple of years, the physical therapy program at Midwestern University has partnered with Hearts In Motion on a mission trip to provide physical therapy services to the people of Guatemala who do not have access to quality healthcare. Myself, along with 19 other physical therapy students, have been selected to take part in this 9 day educational experience. During this endeavor, I will have the opportunity to utilize my knowledge and expertise while working along side my fellow colleagues to provide excellent quality physical therapy care to hurting children and families. Not only will this mission benefit citizens of Guatemala, it will allow me gain invaluable experience. I am highly motivated and eager to learn as much as I can while providing quality care. Those students who have attended this trip in the past have expressed the gratitude that the people of Guatemala have for this mission trip. When they heard we were providing care, hurting children and elderly would wait all day just to receive treatment. We have helped these individuals heal through manual therapy, education and providing necessary assistive devices. I see this as a once in a lifetime opportunity where I will gain exposure to different cultures, which will benefit my practice as a future physical therapist. Our trip to Guatemala will take place November 15-23, 2015 and I would greatly appreciate your generosity, if you feel inclined to help me sponsor this amazing experience. The total cost of the Guatemala trip is $2,000. This amount includes airfare, transportation to and from different cities in need in Guatemala, meals and housing for the duration of the trip. After my return from Guatemala, I will be holding a small event to thank my sponsors and share my experiences with them. Your sponsorship and support will help me achieve this once in a lifetime opportunity. Thank you very much for your time.
