Send Mark to see His Family
Organized by: Mariah Garlitos
Mark Vanhorn served over 20 years protecting our country and providing for his family. He has been all over the world, served in both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom since he was 18 years old. His father passed away quite a few years ago after cancelling his life insurance policy, leaving a financial stress for the rest of the family. Now his mother, who he has not seen in close to a decade, has been diagnosed with the highest level of Alzheimer's, stage 5. She sometimes confused Mark's son for him which tells me she is in need to see Mark in person before she no longer remembers who he is. She does not qualify for Medicare or Medicaid and so there is a huge financial burden for her care facilities each month. Mark has sent the money he saved for a plane ticket to his Sister (who has been their mother's caretaker for years) to pay for the facilities and care. However, knowing the pain of losing his dad after not seeing him for so long, I know he needs to see his mother. I am hoping to raise $5000 to send him to see his mother and to meet his grandchildren for the first time. I want him to be able to go there and not worry about the financial stress of home and to be able to give some aid to his sister who has selflessly spent years of her life trying to fund her mother's care. He has done so much for me, my mom, my sisters, and for his country. If you have anything to spare please donate and pass along.
