Send me to Egypt
Organized by: Jessi Vining
EVENT DATE Oct 30, 2015
Ever since I (Jessi) was a child, Egypt has called out to me and I have been drawn toward it. 10 years ago (almost exactly) I visited some friends there for a wedding and I fell even further in love with it as a country. This was before I had found my life's work in midwifery and women's health, before I knew that women everywhere bear children - and that childbirth and motherhood is a wonderful link and connection between women who might otherwise have nothing in common. This year, I have the opportunity to return to Egypt and merge my two loves at a Childbirth conference held in Alexandria, Egypt this October. The theme this "Empowering Midwifery Education in the Middle East."
And I have to try and go. Despite the fact that it is only a little over a month away. Despite the fact that we have no money of our own to make this happen. I have to try. Those of you who know me well, you know how close this is to my heart and how long I have continued to hold on to this dream. Now there is an opportunity to go, and I am going to do everything I can to try and rise to the occasion! Will you join me?
Will you help fund this trip? I need about $2600 for conference registration, visa fees, plane tickets and hotel/food costs. I promise to take a million photos in return!
Scott and I have talked about it, and if we are able to raise the money for this trip he and Ruby will stay behind here in Oklahoma while I take about a week to go learn about midwifery education in the Middle East. The conference is being held October 30th 2015.
