Did you know that only 4% of children with disabilities receive an education in Peru?
Hola! Welcome to my page. My name is Suzie, and I am a Master of Occupational Therapy student with a strong belief that everyone deserves to live a full life. My goal as a future practitioner is to provide patient-centered therapy to underprivileged children. It has been my dream to become an occupational therapist to serve those in need, and to open a weekend clinic to provide therapy for free to underserved local families. After few years of working hard on my application, I have finaly been accepted to University of Washington's program and now have the chance to make my dream a reality! By volunteering with Manos Unidas in Peru, I can gain cultural sensitivity to build stronger rapport with diverse patients at home in the United States, as well as providing early intervention therapy to orphanages around the world.
Manos Unidas strives to reduce cultural stigma that exists towards people with disabilities and help them live independent, satisfying lives. My challenge is to fundraise $5000 to support the only non-profit, private special education school in Peru. The school welcomes children who need the services the most but are often overlooked due to financial hardship, and the funds raised will help the children receive quality education. Will you help me get there? Please help share my cause and vamos! :)
