BENEFITING: FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE-SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY CHAPTER
My team is hoping to raise $600 to participate in our Friday Night Live 24 Hour Relay Challenge which is a San Luis Obispo High School Memorial Day weekend tradition. My team of 10 will rotate running miles on our track continuously from 9am on Saturday, May 28th to 9am on Sunday, May 29th, 2016. This 24 Hour Relay provides a wide variety of mental health wellness, substance abuse prevention, and intervention activities on the SLOHS campus. During the past 24 years the Relay has helped to fund community service opportunities, freshmen orientation, Friday Night Live, the Student Assistance Program, substance abuse prevention assemblies, multicultural events, Youth Issues Conferences and much more. Ultimately, the entire community has benefited as these programs have helped to keep our community safe and healthy. What is the 24 Hour Relay Challenge? Teams made up of 10 students with two parent coordinators make a campsite and rotate completing miles on the track. During the Relay the stadium is turned into a giant festival with great food and entertainment. The event is a "lock-in" with all participants, parents and youth, challenged to stay on the track for 24 hours while demonstrating a positive, healthy alcohol, and drug-free community. The event is coordinated by Friday Night Live, a youth development program in partnership with County Behavioral Health focused on supporting healthy lifestyles. Please consider helping my team participate in this worthwhile event. Thank you!
