Student Evangelism to the Nations Team trip to Honduras
Organized by: Jacob Vaughn
EVENT DATE Feb 23, 2015
I am a student at a small Bible College outside of Pittsburg, PA called Free Gospel Bible Institute, and I have been selected to participate in a short-term mission trip to the nation of Honduras.
We will be hosted by the Sumner family who have spent the past 20+ years as full time missionaries in Honduras. God has opened the door for them to be allowed to minister and work with the entire Honduran military and police force.
They also pastor a church in Danli, Honduras, and are very involved in various children's ministries there.
This is actually my second time going on this trip, and last year was such an amazing experience and opportunity to help the people of Honduras.
We will spend almost two weeks there. The first week will consist of preaching at multiple military and police bases, along with their academies for each branch of services. We have been granted almost unlimited freedom to bring the Gospel to this men and women that serve the armed forces of Honduras. We usually split into two teams and cover 12-18 bases each.
Week two consists of children and young teen outreach. We will help in a soup kitchen feeding and teaching children who for the majority of the week eat only tortillas to live on. So this is a major point of ministry for the children. We will also travel around the town of Honduras holding Bible classes for the little children with skits and songs for them. On top of this we will hold a Kids Crusade and Youth Revival for the local church there in Honduras that hosts us.
Its an amazing opportunity and I hope that you will help me be a great blessing to the people of Honduras. The costs of the trip come to around $2,000 dollars for travelers insurance, food and board, airfare, and an offering towards the local work going on there. Any and all contributions above and beyond will go towards the full-time missionaries and their work.
