BENEFITING: The Freedom Story
EVENT DATE: Sep 01, 2015
The idea is Simple.
1. In the first week of September give up something you might not necessarily need (ie coffee, wine, chocolate etc.)
2. Work out how much you saved in that week.
3. Donate the money to SOLD - which will go 100% to funding our expansion safe-house and city resource centre (See below!).
Over the past 5 years I have been on a journey with a non-Government Organization in northern Thailand called 'The SOLD Project'. I have watched SOLD grow from sponsoring 20 children vulnerable to human trafficking, to now over 130. This scholarship provides the children and their families with the amount they need to attend school, right until they complete University. We believe that education and mentorship are the key to human trafficking prevention.
Over the past year we have realized the need for a second Resource Centre in the city of Chiang Rai to provide a safe space for University and High School students. We have also seen that in emergency cases we are lacking a safe sleeping space for children at high-risk of being trafficked. The money raised from this event will be used toward this new centre. I am reaching out to people to not only donate to SOLD to help with our expansion, but also to consider how you consume and to take a moment to consider 'Fair Trade' products.

Just a bit of extra information on the cause:
To get a safe-house and one staff member for 12 months we are looking for $10,000. I will be doing this event and then an event in December in the hope of getting close to this amount. Sold still do most of their fundraising in the USA, but this new venture and expansion requires extra funding.
Thanks to everyone for their support!
