Conservation Lands Foundation's Fundraiser:

#ServiceNotSeizure

Conservation Lands Foundation's Photo

THE STORY:

Mrs. Bundy wants you to send her boys mayonnaise, cigarettes and throw rugs – to aid their crimes at the Malheur Refuge in Oregon.

This is just ridiculous!

Here’s the right thing to do:

Make a donation now to support veterans, young people, and Native Americans who do real work on public lands. Real work building trails, protecting wildlife, improving water quality, and giving back to the American people. Not taking from them.

The Conservation Lands Foundation will give 100% of your donation to support veterans, youth and Native Americans who are part of conservation corps—teams of people who steward U. S. public lands for the greater good, earn educational awards in the process, and gain valuable job skills.

This is real work. This is real service. All Americans benefit and our treasured, shared public lands will be there for our grandchildren to enjoy just as we do.

Make a donation now.

Tell the Bundys to stop destroying public property, using guns to intimidate people, and yes - hold the mayo.*

* For a good laugh, take a look at this complete list of items Mrs. Bundy says her boys need.  Queen-sized bed sheets? – really?

$25,000 will put a crew of 12 veterans, young people or Native American youth to work for two weeks on the National Conservation Lands.

-          $125-175 ($15 - $22/hr) puts one corps member to work for one day on the National Conservation Lands

-          $1,250 pays for a wildland fire fighting training course or wilderness first aid course

-          $250 pays for picnic lunch for 25 volunteers

-          $160 pays for transportation for the crew to the job site for one week

-          $50 pays for one week of health insurance for a corps members

-          $20 pays for one tree to be planted along western rivers

-          $15 pays for one native plant to restore riverbanks

Working in partnership with BLM staff, crews:

Remove harmful invasive species, such as tamarisk and Russian olive, that degrade water quality and harm fish and wildlife.

Build and repair trails for sportsmen, day hikers, and horseback riders.

Plant trees and native shrubs to improve habitat and food sources for wildlife.

Install signs and kiosks to better educate and welcome visitors.

Inventory cultural resources, such as Native American archaeological sites, to aid BLM staff in better management.

Work shoulder-to-shoulder with volunteers from neighboring communities who come to support the corps and celebrate public lands

Corps members receive wages, travel stipend, health insurance and can earn Americorps education awards to apply to existing students loans or to future college courses.  They also receive professional mentoring, skills training, and life skills classes (such as backcountry safety, chainsaw certification, wild fire management, managing personal finances)

In one week, a team of military veterans can accomplish a ton of work. For example, in California a crew blazed eight miles of new trail through poison oak and across rugged terrain, guarding against erosion and providing the area’s very first trail for visitors.

In the Santa Rosa San Jacinto National Monument, a Veterans Conservation Corps repaired and re-routed trails to provide recreation for people as well as to protect calving grounds for the endangered Peninsula bighorn sheep—an iconic species found only in the monument.

In the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, a 12-member youth corps worked for one week to clear the area’s biggest campground of non-native plants species and—alongside 20 volunteers from the community—planted  60 new native shrubs.

Fundraise for this Campaign

Militants continue to occupy the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, keeping land managers and volunteers from protecting critical habitat for hundreds of thousands of birds following the Pacific Flyway.

They can't do their work, but here's what you can do about it:
Make a donation now to support veterans, young people, and Native Americans who can do real work on public lands. Real work building trails, protecting wildlife, improving water quality, and giving back to the American people. Not stealing from them.

Show the militants that their efforts are backfiring. Make a donation now.
