My daugher, Nayeli Faith Nelson, was born with a birth defect known as Congential Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). She had a 20 to 40% chance to live, with the standard survival rate being 50%. Our daughter survived by the grace of God. At some point, my wife and I decided, that regardless of the outcome, we would create a non profit foundation in honor of our daughter.
Since then, I have committed myself to running to raise funds for our foundation and the families affected by this serious birth defect. In November 2010, I completed the NYC marathon (my first marathon) in honor of our daughter. This experience motivated me to run another marathon in Long Beach, and a half in Davis. I have now organized a team to run the SF marathon on July 31st. Please support me in my efforts and our cause!
