"Children are made readers in the laps of their parents." - Emilie Buchwald
The more books in a child's home, the farther they go in school.
Recent studies show that having a library of books in the home directly correlates with a child’s education level despite the education level or literacy skills of their parents.
Sadly many vulnerable children have no books or very few in their home.
Starfish Family Services wants to help Inkster families build their home libraries with exciting and educational books for their children to read and to further help them along their journey into becoming excellent readers!
To successfully accomplish our goal, we're going to need your help!
You'll have the opportunity to donate towards our listed fundraising goal, which can purchase 5,000 books to start building home libraries for our families and help improve literacy in the lives of our children.
Achieving literacy is a key milestone to a child's educational and personal well-being; with access to their own home library, children can read along with their families within the comfort of their own home.
