For many of us, art and music classes were an essential part of school. Sadly, this isn't true for kids today. This is where Performing Arts Workshop comes in.
If we don't have arts in schools, we don't have education in schools.
Every student deserves the right to a well-rounded, thought-provoking education. It is our responsibility to raise a generation of insightful, creative leaders, ones that will challenge the status quo and bring about real change to society while developing as an individual. If you believe in a fair education for all, please donate today!
Performing Arts Workshop gives students the education that they need and deserve. Since 1965 we've been helping kids develop critical thinking, creative expression, and basic learning skills through the arts.
We have an amazing and professional roster of Workshop artists that teach creative writing, creative movement, world dance, and theatre arts classes in schools, community centers, and juvenile detention centers each year.
We serve over 5,000 at-risk youth each year. Multi-year studies have demonstrated quantified proof that our students perform better in school, develop critical thinking skills, and are more engaged in learning. Our proven methodology helps kids develop the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.
WHY I JOINED:
Performing arts, particularly music, had a major impact on my life growing up. I started playing the piano at the age of three and later focused on western percussion. I then took up Indian percussion by learning the tabla and dhol, eventually launching my own business to provide music entertainment at weddings and other festive events. Looking back, I realized that these formative experiences really boosted a creative, entrepreneurial spirit within. Arts and music can have a positive social and intellectual impact on everybody, which is why I joined Performing Arts Workshop - to ensure our next generation gets the arts and music education they deserve.
