SUPPORT SHADOWLIGHT  - SUPPORT THE LEGACY OF SHADOW THEATRE TRADITIONS

Help us continue our innovative powerful work that nurtures a more diverse, compassionate and vibrant society.

For the last 45 years, ShadowLight Productions has been uniquely committed to telling stories from around the world solely through shadows and is internationally recognized as one of the pioneers and innovators in the modern Shadow Theatre field.

We have a number of exciting new projects brewing for the upcoming years: a collaboration with Paul Dresher Ensemble; a remount and a new work with Gamelan Sekar Jaya; a residency in India with the 12th generation shadow theatre family in Kerala; partnership with Columbia Park Boys & Girls Club among others.

WHY is Your Support Crucial?

Your donations will not only help us to ensure time, space and resources necessary to realize projects to their fullest potential, but also will enable us to strengthen our effort to:

· Build Community with Culturally Relevant Works

· Share the Art of Wayang Bali

· Reach More Students, Schools and Communities

· Continue the Legacy of Shadow Theatre

HOW?  - Donate or Raise $10 - $500

Your donation in any amount will help sustain our activities in 2018.  Here are two ways to help us:

· Become part of our Legacy by donating directly or

About ShadowLight Productions

ShadowLight was founded in 1972 by filmmaker/theatre director/shadow artist Larry Reed.  Our activities range from creating large scale Modern Shadow Theatre works to Traditional Balinese Wayang to Arts Education programming to Documentary Videos on modern and traditional shadow theatres around the world.  Our aspiration is to expand the scope of Shadow Theatre as an artistic expression and as a tool for cross-cultural understanding. We offer our works as opportunities for our collaborators and audience members to cross over to new domains of cultural enrichment, social contemplation and interaction, artistic inspiration and mutual understanding. In doing so, we are helping to build a more compassionate society.

We are particularly interested in making works that can serve as a bridge between underserved groups and general populations by highlighting their languages, mythologies and music. We have successfully created productions based on stories and with artists from a variety of cultures and genres such as Chinese, Indonesian, Tibetan, Mexican, Native American, Beat poetry and Jazz.  These include: COYOTE’S JOURNEY (2000) with the Karuk and Hoopa tribes of Northern California; PORO OYNA (2012) with the Aynu (or Ainu) tribe in Northern Japan; and GHOSTS OF THE RIVER (2009) was our joint effort with playwright Octavio Solis and activist/artist Favianna Rodriguez to put a human face on the contentious US/Mexico border issues.  Each time we create, we try to invoke a mythological experience - a public dream - in the minds of modern audiences.
