SHANA AND MARLEIGH'S SERVICE BUILD PROJECT
Organized by: Shari Harris-Dunning
RPA students in front of the new house
March 27, 2016
Hi! I’m Shana. I’m a junior at RPA or Redmond Proficiency Academy. And I’m Marleigh and I’m a freshman at RPA. Thank you for reading this. This March, we will be going on a trip with a group of fellow RPA students and some adults, to Mexico. We are very excited to be able to go on this wonderful adventure! The trip will be a total of nine days; it will take 2 ½ days to driver there and back. We will be constructing a house in Mexico, for a Mexican family (a family of five people) over the course of five days. The experience will be something truly unique and special and we could not be more excited about it!
Shana: Marleigh has been outside the United States plenty of times, but this will be my first time. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been to different countries; it matters that we are going to help people and change their lives – and they will change ours.
Marleigh: To make it all the more special, Shana has never been outside the USA before, so it will be a very special experience for her. Of course travel is never cheap, and this trip, though unique and amazing in its own way, is no exception. It will cost Shana and I each $500 a piece, and while $1,000 might not seem like a lot, it is. My parents are going to be going as well (as drivers/chaperones).
We are trying to fundraise for this trip so we can do this amazing thing for a family in need. All of the noney we raise will go towards the service project trip costs – and I’m not lying when I say that every dollar counts. Thanks!
