Shannon's Mission in Malawi
Organized by: Shannon Stortz
THE STORY: Malawi, Africa: May 13 – 24, 2016 -
Malawi is a small, landlocked country in southeast Africa. It is known as the “Warm Heart of Africa” with a population of over 16 million. It is among the worlds least-developed countries, and relies heavily on outside aid.
This beautiful country has worked hard to make changes and empowering and educating children is a key to their future. There is an estimated 800,000 orphans in Malawi due to HIV/Aids, famine and other causes, who need shelter, nutrition, education and love. Kusewera is working to do what we can to empower these kids and young adults through various projects in Malawi.
My journey will be working with children in the Chitipi area of Lilongwe and at the Jacaranda School in Blantyre. What started as a personal project has developed into a long term vision. I not only want to raise funds to go there, I want to raise money to be able to bring them crayons so they can create their vision. I want to bring soccer balls so they can kick start their future . I want to bring them clothes to put color and warmth into their lives. I may just be a drop in the bucket, but hopefully that will create a ripple to others in the world. Every dollar will help with this mission, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
God Bless, Shannon
