YOUR IMPACT

The mindfulness in education movement is growing rapidly, yet it is still in its’ infancy. Teachers across the nation are embracing mindful practice as way to be more present and invite the same from their students. We receive regular requests from schoolteachers asking for mindful resources that will directly address the needs of teens.

To meet this demand, we are pleased to introduce the Shanti Generation Mindful Life Skills curriculum! A multi-media resource and training program designed to bring mindful practices alive in classrooms.

How Does Mindfulness Impact Students?

  • Support mental, social and emotional health.
  • Develop coping and thriving skills.
  • Uplift classroom climate to one of respect, compassion and empathy.
  • Empower teachers to integrate basic mindful movement, breathing and relaxation techniques into daily classroom life.

Funding will go to:

  1. Finish the written and audio/visual elements of the curriculum; Thirty 2-5 minute videos, Teaching Curriculum, Pilot Plan, and unique mindfulness resources. For grades 6-8.  Classroom specific, multi-media.
  2. Complete a Pilot Program in the LA area.  This includes a support team, research, development, and reporting on results.

This work is bigger than us. We can only accomplish this with your support. Your contribution will bring Mindful Life Skills directly into classrooms and into the lives of youth.

Help us bring mindfulness alive in classrooms!

Why Mindfulness?

Over 30 years of research continues to prove the life enhancing effects of mindful practice. Teachers who adopt mindful practices are better able to hold an emotionally safe classroom and they experience less burnout.  Please click Here and Here.

Mindful practice supports overall well being. These simple practices can give us access to our deep physiological well of peace, or Shanti.

Why Now?

Over the past decade, many districts have cut PE, arts and music programs. Schools are feeling the lack of these vital supports that help inspire creativity and boost learning.   Students have increasingly more difficulty being present amid the barrage of media, texting and high stake academic demands.

Students and teachers report unhealthy levels of stress and anxiety.  Young teens are especially vulnerable to heavy stress loads. This is the time when young people make choices that affect their entire lives. Many turn to drugs, alcohol and self-harm to deal with issues.

Mindful practice is an efficient method to help get schools back on track to caring for students, not just test scores.

Why Shanti Generation?

Shanti Generation was founded in 2009 in response to a need for youth-centric yoga and mindfulness resources. Our resource development has been guided by the needs and voices of teens, speaking to teens in a language that empowers and inspires them to bring mindfulness into their daily lives.

Our programs are informed by over 20 years of fieldwork with youth in every type of school, community centers and yoga studios.

We integrate simple physiological tools with basic mindful practice to provide teachers and students a set of resources to become more present.
