Thanks for checking out our fundraising page!
Three of us from AboutSkin - Ellen, Katie, and Jessica are going (with our moms too!) on a medical mission trip to Nicaragua this summer 2016. Ellen will be practicing pharmacy skills, Katie will be continuing and expanding on health services, and Jessica will be using her public health knowledge. (all monies donated will be split equally towards fundraising goals...if you like one person better you can donate at their individual page).
This organization provides health care in rural villages in Nicaragua as well as vitamins, anti-parasitic medications and shoes for children to be able to attend school. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere. The villages in the northern mountains that we serve have no access to healthcare or clean drinking water. Over the past 10+ years, this organization has been working on improving the health of the community, as well as the providing access to clean drinking water in water resource projects. The water projects are essential and involve piping clean water into schools and churches, installing water fountains and storage tanks, and repairing water lines.
Some interesting things about the dermatology in Nicaragua- Previous years have treated things including lice, scabies, rashes (often due to poor hygiene and lack of clean water), skin infections, fungus, and others. Our fundraising goal is 1,690- which is enough to stock the dermatology section of the pharmacy with badly needed steroid creams, ointments, and other treatments that are otherwise unavailable.
We appreciate your support and encouragement as we travel to Nicaragua. Please note that all monies raised go directly toward purchasing medicine, vitamins, children’s shoes, and back into the local communities we visit. If you would also like to donate gently used clothing and shoes (including new socks and underwear) or medications (especially vitamins, however gummy vitamins don’t travel well!), we would be happy to coordinate getting those items from you.
Thank you again for your support and for making this trip possible! Check out more about Corner of Love at www.corneroflove.org

*Be sure to note at the bottom of the Billing Page under the heading of Confirm Your Donation there is an "Optional Processing Fee" in orange letters. This is formatted to add 10% that goes directly to Crowdrise NOT to Corner of Love. Each donor can delete this fee by clicking on "Optional Processing Fee" and scrolling to $0; then click on the Save and Close orange button. This will delete that fee.
