On February 23rd I will turn 25.
This will be my quarter life crisis.
Help me to feel better about this birthday.
For my birthday, I ask that all my friends donate atleast 1$ to this incredible program. I believe in these children, this space, these people, with all of my heart.
No program has changed my life more than Tree House Books. Tree House pushed me to give back. Tree House convinced me to stay in Philadelphia. Tree House helped me to become a teacher.
Watch this and fall in love.
TREE HOUSE BOOKS wrote -
Tree House Books is a non-profit organization on a mission to grow and sustain a community of readers, writers, and thinkers in North Central Philadelphia. Packed with books and homemade art, it is an after-school space for community children to explore learning in a fun, creative way that encourages lifelong relationships with reading and each other. Tree House Books offers several programs that are all centered around various literacy projects. Each day after school, children are paired with literacy coaches and are given the opportunity to join book clubs, meet authors, write their own stories, and constantly build their at-home libraries.
All proceeds raised will ensure the continuous rebuilding of resources provided to children and their families.
Tree House will be celebrating their love of reading this month by participating in the 24th National African American Read-In, which encourages the celebration of literacy as part of African American History Month in February. Children, parents, and the public are invited to Tree House Books to hear children read aloud, participate in a student reading circle, share a story, and honor books authored by African Americans.
