We are filling up 24 hours with unified voices of readers. Book LOVERS across the city will commit to reading for one hour: reading silently, reading to their spouse, reading to their dog, reading to a child, reading with their co-workers. In our Tree House Books reading marathon we celebrate the power of reading. Each Reading Team recruits people to sponsor them to read for one hour. As part of their participation, the team posts a picture or comments about themselves reading, whatever it looks like when they are deeply connected with their book.
The comfort of your home or workplace or collectively at an event with your group or organization.
This campaign is intended to create an opportunity to get lots of people talking about Tree House and literacy, have a targeted mission to raise funds that will have a clear and impactful purpose, and raise enough money to support each family currently supported by Tree House Books. But it doesn’t stop there. We will be able to provide services, resources, and books to hundreds of families and children through partnerships with other programs around the city. Let's embark on the challenge to create the resources we need to support the 25 families in the Tree House Books literacy program with this 24 hour marathon. In the course of the 24 hours, let's also really raise awareness about the troubling fact of how we spend minimal focused time on reading in the course of an average 24 hours. Go ahead, remember why you love to read.
By becoming a Reading Team on our fundraising page and inviting friends, family, and co-workers to donate $24. Every Reading Team will update their status to share with their sponsors and the world how it felt to dedicate an entire hour to reading a book.
