BENEFITING: SHARING TO LEARN
EVENT DATE: Dec 15, 2010
We want to help give the beautiful children of rural Makuleke Village, South Africa, the opportunities that we have been afforded. Education is their opportunity and we are working hard to ensure that it is an equal education - access to books and technology - in spite of poverty.
In the past two years, we have established the village's first two community libraries. We are now working hard to create a small technology center for the village, a place where children can come after school and work on educational computer programs that will give them the skills that will one day be expected of them in the workforce.
Many school children within the United States helped make the village libraries a reality by sharing thousands of their books with the village children. Won't you help us with our dream of allowing children access to technology?
Here's what we hope to purchase:
A projector & projector screen
Fast Internet service for the community library and primary school
2 computer desks and chairs for the technology center
A technology training session for local school teachers
