It's long been a goal of mine to run a marathon, and by a great stroke of luck I recently received entry into one of the most sought after races in the world: The 2013 NYC Marathon.
For me, these 26.2 miles represent an opportunity to devote my efforts to something much bigger than myself and the pursuit of my personal goals. I wanted to support an amazing cause -- something that would be worth pushing forward for when the going gets tough (which I hear is right around mile 20 or so).
I chose K9s for Warriors.
K9s for Warriors is a non-profit that helps those veterans who are lucky enough to return home by matching them with a shelter dog that has none. But they can’t do it alone.
Please help me make my first marathon more than just an item crossed off of my bucket list by helping our veterans and our shelter dogs find each other. Combined with the systematic training and support that K9s for Warriors provides them both, just watch the magic ensue.
I promise to run my hardest in all of my training runs, and especially on Sunday, November 3rd--hopefully thinking of the good that we've done together in supporting this amazing cause.
Thank you so much in advance for your help!
