As most of you know, I have been logging in the miles as a runner these past few years. I may not always look forward to the mental or physical exertion devoted to training, but pushing to go further and the elation I feel when I finish is enough to keep me going.
I have been fortunate enough to finish marathons and 50K races, and I would still continue to run these distances. However, I am ready to challenge myself to run (at times walk) a 50 mile race. I will be able to do this through Rock The Ridge, a 50-mile endurance challenge set in the natural beauty of the Mohonk Preserve, a vast, non-profit nature preserve situated in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York State.
My goal is to raise $450 for the Preserve, and with your help, I know I can reach and even surpass that goal. Whatever you can afford, whatever you are moved to contribute, will be gratefully received.
With your help and support, I can fulfill my goal to run this beautiful course (wild animals included!) and experience all the aches and pains to go with it! I look forward to joining all the "crazy folks" in Hudson Valley and I hope you can help me get there. You never know....you may want to join me one day!
I leave you with this quote:
"In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, "I have finished". There is a lot of satisfaction in that."
-Fred Lebow, New York City Marathon co-founder
