BENEFITING: The Against Malaria Foundation
In the height of 2015, the man-bun had swept across the web as the dominant hairstyle. It's now 2016, and having had mine for over a year and a half, I feel it's time for it to go. But rather than just lop it off, I would rather do some good with my abrupt change in hairstyle. I will be donating the hair to The Rapunzel Foundation, who make wigs for children and adults with alopecia. Further than this (given the amount of people that wanted to chop off the bun while I've had it) I thought I could raise some money for a charity as well, and I chose the Against Malaria Foundation, as it has been assessed and rated as one of the most effective charities by several effective altruism sites. The Against Malaria Foundation does vital preventative work against the spread of malaria in developing countries. More than 1 million people die every year from this preventable disease, with 70% of them under the age of 5. I set my goal at a conservative 500, but of course if this goal is reached I would be more than happy to continue receiving donations for this exceptionally worthy charity.
