On August 22, 2011, Shawntel Jones passed away unexpectedly. She left a husband, Walter, three boys: Dixon (13), Nathan (12) and Mims (8) and an entire community grieving. She was an amazing friend, a devoted wife and mother, and the embodiment of service to her community. Shawntel was particularly commited to causes benefiting children generally and served as PTO President, team mom for multiple teams/sports, Sunday School teacher, and Bible Club teacher and organizer.
On August 25, the community of Vestavia Hills will honor Shawntel's memory and commitment to public service by holding a 5K race and 1 mile fun run. The proceeds from the race will be used to build a track at Vestavia Hills Elementary Central, which will bear Shawntel's name. The track will benefit both the students at Central and the Community.
Please consider making a donation in honor of a friend or mom in your life. No gift is too small. Gifts of $5, $10, $25, $50 and $100 all add up together to help us reach our goal of bringing this track to the community. This track will be a living testament to Shawntel's commitment to family and community.
The easiest way to give is to select donate and give online. Or, feel free to drop a check in the mail payable to Vestavia Hills Elementary Central and mail to Julie Ellis at 1320 Badham Drive, Birmingham, AL 35216. Your gift is tax dedudctible to the extent allowed by the IRS.
