BENEFITING: Generation Ubuntu
EVENT DATE: Dec 01, 2013
As you know, my name is Shayna (@LadyLhasa on Instagram). The most important thing to know about me (besides my being ridiculously good looking) is that I am incredibly fortunate, many would say spoiled. November 4th would have been my Poppy's 100th birthday and reflecting on his legacy of humanity and kindness inspired my family and I to celebrate our blessings and pay them forward...
I want to teach you all about a concept called Ubuntu. It is the African concept of humanity - it means "I am because you are" and teaches us all that we must care for each other because we are connected. Never thought a dog would be teaching you about your humanity? Well...consider yourself enlightened.
Now, in honor of Ubuntu and our beloved Poppy, my family and I have committed to raising funds and awareness for a truly amazing organization Ubuntu Africa.
They provide comprehensive care to 200 HIV+ children in South Africa - empowering them with the support and love they need to live the long, happy and healthy lives we all deserve. Visit their website, watch their video or talk to my sister Robyn (Robyn@ubafrica.org) who is UBA's Director of Development to learn more.
So...please, donate anything you can to support our campaign. It means so much to my family, but even more to the beautiful, inspirational children of UBA.
In the spirit of Ubuntu,
Shayna and the Deutsch Family
